Kay Stroman, SPHR

Kay Stroman is a seasoned business and human resources executive with more than 30 years of experience in human resources spanning key HR disciplines at all stages of an organization’s growth. She prefers the start-up/early stages and high growth phases of the organization’s lifecycle for the faster pace and greater opportunities to experiment and learn. She’s participated in multiple start-ups and in multiple M&A transactions on both sides of the equation, buy side and sell side, participating in or leading due diligence efforts for HR and administrative functions, as well as leading employee integration activities post deal closure.
Prior to co-founding her newest venture, sensibleHR, LLC, she was on the founding executive team of Silvercar, Inc. which was successfully acquired by Audi in 2017.
Over the course of her career Kay has had the opportunity to combine her passion for effective people solutions, an intense curiosity for how things work, and experiential design, to successfully claim oversight of other cross functional areas. These areas include operations management and customer service with full P&L ownership, quality assurance, safety, procurement, facilities, IT services and security, and corp compliance and legal. Her many years of experience in executive leadership have spanned a variety of business and industry sectors, including SaaS technology, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, telecommunications, cable TV entertainment, retail, travel and consumer services.
With her broad experience in HR, customer service and operations management, and a single-minded philosophy that “employees give what they get,” Kay’s teams have fueled award-winning cultures and, most recently with Silvercar, a customer service model garnering industry toppling net promoter scores consistently in the high 80’s.
Kay earned a BA in Political Science from Texas State University (Go Bobcats), is a graduate of Leadership Texas (now Leadership Women) and currently serves on the McCoy College of Business Advisory Board for HR Management. She is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a certified DISC facilitator, a trained life and leadership coach, a skilled professional mediator and a former certified ISO Lead Auditor. She was a finalist for the prestigious ABJ Profiles in Power Award and has a passion for developing women in leadership roles.
Kay and her husband, Keith, reside in Wimberley, Texas with their two dogs, Shiner and Hondo. She’s an avid reader, gardener, beach comber and competitive game player with family and friends. She prefers college football over professional but prizes her seat as commissioner of her fantasy football league. She has two grown children, Kelsi and Matthew, and 3 grandchildren who call her Kay Cake.
